Earning a top 2007-2008 ZAGAT rating for outstanding cuisine and impeccable service, Coromandel is no stranger critical raves. In bestowing its 4-star rating, THE NEW YORK TIMES wrote, "Coromandel is tiny, but it packs a wallop in several ways; in its airy, attractive decor, welcoming service, generous portions and most importantly, in its originality, diversity and the high gastronomic standards of its food. Much to praise, too little to fault." In point of fact, you'll find nothing to fault as you peruse the menu feeling much like a kid in a candy store. From Bengal Bay, fresh prawns cooked with organic yogurt; from Gujarati, vegetable and cheese dumplings served in a cashew and almond sauce; from Kerela, lamb chunks tossed with coconut, red onions and curry leaves ... it's all FABULOUS! In fact, it's impossible to make a bad choice here. So relax, order a bottle of wine, and let your foodserver make some recommendations. Then surrender to the pure, unadulterated joy of Coromandel.
