The Mad Batter Restaurant, located in the Carroll Villa Hotel on Cape May's historic Jackson Street, is the recipient of many critically acclaimed awards and is considered the granddaddy of Cape May's many fine restaurants. Start the morning with an award-winning breakfast and come back for lunch and dinner! Dine on the front porch in-season, in the sky lit dining room or on the garden terrace. Open year-round, The Mad Batter also hosts art exhibits and live music, including "open mic" night and "jazz at the Batter" with friends of Cape May Jazz. Enjoy half-priced drinks at happy hour daily from 4-6 p.m. when the bistro menu is also available. The Mad Batter and Carroll Villa Hotel have recently gone green, implementing energy-saving and environmentally friendly changes like carpets made from corn, energy saving appliances, low-energy lights, environmentally friendly pants, energy efficient air conditioners and a strict glass and paper recycling policy. Come see these changes along while enjoying the classically delicious cuisine and see why The Mad Batter is a three-time winner of "Best Brunch" from New Jersey Monthly Magazine's annual Readers' Choice (just one of its many honors). As written about by the Philadelphia Inquirer, The Mad Batter added 38 new solar panels to their roof in order to cut down on energy consumption and offset almost 8,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide.
